Plot
The silk scarf is a story of Mrs Nebo, the wife to Mr. Cleve Nebo, the future foreign affairs minister. She went to the plaza with her friend Margaret for shopping. They bought some shoes, some jewellery and some swimming costumes. Mrs Nebo saw a lovely Indian dress that attracted her and bought it. She started searching for the silk scarf that matched her dress and found it in Moughul Boutique. She was too excited to found it and decided to buy it that moment. When she took out her money she was fifteen rands short, then she offered to pay with the cheque that was refused by the shopkeeper Mr. Sakur insisted her to pay in cash only. She was furious and felt humiliated but there was a no win situation, the shopkeeper was adamant to his word. Margaret intervened to explain on whom Mrs. Nebo was in attempted to convince Mr. Sakur but that doesn’t help anything. The situation was getting out of hand when Mrs. Nebo decided not to leave the shop without the scarf and threatened to not allow Mr. Sakur run his business in the plaza area. The shopkeepers shown up to hear what was going on with the colleague after they found out that it was dangerous too for their future businesses. They decided to solve the problem immediately by donating money equal to the price of the scarf and gave the money to Mr. Sakur then the traders gave the scarf to Mrs. Nebo as a gift that she accepted with all her heart and was very happy. She threatened Mr. Sakur that he is not going to have business in the Plaza in the near future before she left.
